Kids Industries

Gary trained as an English teacher and led a London school department before leaving the profession to join a change management agency as a facilitator and learning designer, working with Eriksson, Thomson, Reuters, BA, Diageo and Disney.

It was while with Disney in 1999 that Gary realized the opportunity to create Kids Industries and provide insight, strategy and content consulting services to companies wishing to connect with families anywhere in the world. Operating out of offices in London and Cape Town, Kids Industries currently counts the BBC, Random House, Mattel, GSK, Kellogg, eOne Entertainment, Warner Bros., Al Jazeera and Disney amongst its clients.

Much of Gary’s time over the last 18 months has been spent leading the redevelopment of JCC (Al Jazeera’s channel for children ages seven to 12) into a full-integrated and multi-platform operation called JeemTV. The Kids Industries team has been responsible for content, branding, marketing, on-air linking, campaign calendaring, digital, and commercial business planning. Additionally, Gary executive produced three of the net’s new in-house productions.

Most recently, Gary is very proud of having led the redevelopment of Peppa Pig’s global digital presence, including the creation of two #1 App Store apps for the brand.

Gary is also an advisor to the Children’s Media Conference, and chairs the organization’s research committee. He is a speaker at conferences around the world and writes many articles about the modern commercial environment of childhood. He is a Children’s BAFTA juror and the recipient of two Institute of Practitioners in Advertising Special Awards for Strategy, Channel Planning and Effectiveness.

Gary maintains his interest in education as a school governor, has lots of godchildren, and most importantly of all, he is Dad to Daisy and Laurence.
