About China Animation Association (CAA)

China’s only nationwide animation corporate organization, the China Animation Association (CAA) was established in 1985, registered at the Ministry of Civil Affairs, and operates under the administration of the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television. Current CAA Chairman Yu Peixia was the founder of CCTV Children’s Channel.

The China Animation Association currently has 398 member organizations, including leading animation studios (CCTV Animation, Shanghai Animation Film Studio, Guangdong Alpha Animation and Culture, Shenzhen Huaqiang Digital Animation, etc.), media organizations (38 children’s channels and animation channels throughout China), universities and colleges (Beijing Film Academy, Communication University of China, Jilin Animation Institute, etc.), bases and parks (Hangzhou, Changzhou, Wuxi, Suzhou, Shenzhen, etc.), research units and famous experts and scholars.

Every year, CAA hosts a China Animation Annual Conference—the most influential event for professionals working in China’s animation industry—where it also announces the winners of its annual Monkey Awards for animation excellence. CAA also participates in large-scale national and international events such as MIPTV, MIPCOM, Annecy International Animated Film Festival and Asia TV Forum, organizing activities like "Co-exhibitions of Chinese Animation" and "China Cartoon Club".
