What is Kidscreen East?

Co-produced by Kidscreen and the China Animation Association, Kidscreen East is a new event designed to bring kids entertainment executives from the East and West together for three days of professional networking and collaborative learning.

When and where is it taking place?

Kidscreen East 2014 will take place from July 22 to 24 at the five-star InterContinental Hotel in Qingdao, China.

How can I register?

What are my registration options?

You can register to participate in either the whole Kidscreen East conference, or just the Expert Lectures.

What does my registration include?

If you register to participate in the whole Kidscreen East conference, you will get the following:

  • Lunch on Day 1, Day 2 and Day 3

Will I receive a receipt?

Yes, as soon as you complete your registration form and make payment, you will receive a receipt by email.

Will I be able to claim a VAT tax credit?

The Brunico group of companies is not registered for PRC VAT, and accordingly will not be able to issue an invoice that will enable VAT registered attendees and sponsors to claim an input tax credit. VAT of 6% will be charged upon registration, and remitted to the Chinese Tax Bureau on your behalf.

When do I receive my badge?

Badges and delegate bags/books may be picked up on July 22, 23 or 24 between 8:00am to 6:00pm at the registration desk located on the third floor of the InterContinental Hotel Qingdao. Please note the following:

  • We do not send out physical tickets
  • Badges cannot be used by another individual
  • If you lose your badge, you must pay a $200 replacement fee

Why is my email required when registering?

We need your email address to send you a receipt and also a confirmation email that includes your link to KidscreenXchange, your one-stop online platform for profiling yourself and your company, showcasing projects, messaging delegates and booking meetings. Your email information is private and will not be shared with other attendees. For more information, please view our privacy policy.

I want to purchase more than one pass. What are my options?

I have already registered, but I am unable to attend. What are my options?

Should you be unable to attend Kidscreen East, we require notice in writing on or before June 20, 2014 at 5:00pm EST. Cancellations made after this date will not be eligible for a refund. All cancellations are subject to an administration fee equal to 50% of the purchase price.

Your registration may be transferred to another individual at no charge. Should you wish to transfer your registration to another person, please inform us by email at kidscreeneastsupport@brunico.com a minimum of 24 hours before the event starts. Please be sure to include the following information about the person taking your place:

  • Name and Title
  • Direct Phone Number
  • Email Address
  • Company Name, Address, Website and Phone/Fax Numbers

Are press passes available?

Kidscreen East is a business conference first and foremost; therefore we will only issue press passes to national and international trade and consumer business media outlets, and to a select number of national, international and regional entertainment-oriented media outlets and reporters.

To be considered, you must submit at least one of the following press credentials to the attention of Kidscreen VP & Publisher Jocelyn Christie by email (jchristie@brunico.com):

  • A business card with your editorial title from an established publication that meets the criteria outlined above, including its website address
  • Two PDF files of (or web links to) bylined articles for the publication or online news outlet by which you are employed or for which you will be freelancing during Kidscreen East. Articles must have been published within the past six months by the same organization
  • A current editorial masthead that includes your name and editorial title
  • An identification card with your title at the broadcast station that employs you
  • An original letter of assignment or a copy of your contract from a publisher or news organization, with an editorial contact included

You will be contacted by email if your application has been approved. Once issued, press passes allow reporters access to all Kidscreen East sessions EXCEPT 30 Minutes with..., Speed Pitching and Speed Networking.

Note: Publishers, corporate officers, sales/advertising/public relations professionals and technical support staff from media organizations are not eligible for press passes, nor are those who write website content for non-media organizations.

HOTEL & TRAVEL INFO

Is there a discounted hotel rate for Kidscreen East attendees?

A limited number of guest rooms are available for registered Kidscreen East attendees at the InterContinental Hotel Qingdao for special rates starting at RMB 980/night + tax (roughly US$155/night + tax).

To book your accommodations at these preferred rates, which include buffet breakfast and Wifi hotel-wide, you must first be registered for Kidscreen East. Once you are, simply use this booking link to make a reservation.

Our rates will be offered based on hotel availability in the room block until Monday, June 2, 2014. Book your room early to avoid disappointment.

Driving directions from Qingdao Liuting International Airport (TAO):

  • Follow the signs and get on Qing Yin Highway
  • Take the Haier Road exit and head south to Xiang Gang Dong Road
  • Turn left onto Ao Men Road and continue west until you arrive at the hotel
  • Distance: 35km
  • Time: 40 minutes
  • Taxi fare: RMB150 (roughly US$25)

Do I need a Chinese travel visa to attend the event?

Visitors to China are required to apply for a travel visa, and it's best to start the process as early as you can. You may need to present an official invitation letter from the China Animation Association – and we will email you a basic version of such a letter as soon as you register for the event. But the requirements for this document vary from country to country, so let us know by email at kidscreeneastsupport@brunico.com if you need any additional information included and we will send you a revised version of the invitation.

What is KidscreenXchange?

A one-stop online platform for Kidscreen East attendees where you can profile yourself and your company, showcase projects, message other attendees and booking meetings.

How do I get my login info?

Your login information is in the confirmation email you received when you registered for the event. Your username is the email address that you gave us when you registered.

How can I change my password?

  • Go to your KidscreenXchange home page
  • Click on your name on the top right and select Account Settings from the dropdown menu
  • You will be able to change your password on the next page that displays

How do I upload my photo?

  • Go to your KidscreenXchange home page
  • Click the small icon beside your name on your profile
  • Select Photo from the navigation bar at the top, and then click the Add Photo button to browse for the picture you would like to use from your desktop
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to crop your photo, and when you are satisfied with it, click Upload to post it

How do I sign up for regular sessions?

In order to sign up for a session, you must be signed in to your KidscreenXchange account and then follow these steps:

  • Click on Agenda on the left-hand side of the page
  • Select the session you want to attend
  • Click on the blue Add to my Agenda button

How can I switch/cancel sessions after I have signed up for them?

  • Go to your KidscreenXchange home page
  • Click on Agenda on the left-hand side
  • Click on Personal Agenda at the top
  • Click on the session you are not planning to attend anymore and then click the blue Remove from my agenda button

How do I sign up for Speed Pitching?

The online sign-up window for Speed Pitching opens on Thursday, June 26 at 6:00pm EST and ends on Friday, July 11 at 6:00pm EST . We will send all registered delegates an email earlier that day explaining the sign-up process in more detail, and you will be able to sign up for a maximum of two (2) Speed Pitching meetings.

Can I sign up for Speed Pitching on-site?

Speed Pitching sessions generally fill up quickly before the event, so sign-up is not facilitated on-site. However, at the event, you are welcome to check in with our event staff at the Speed Pitching sessions to see if any meeting slots have become available.

How do I send a message to another attendee?

  • Go to your KidscreenXchange home page
  • Click on Messages on the left-hand side to get to your inbox
  • Click on Compose Message at the top right
  • Search for your delegate by name or view the delegate list by clicking the Delegates tab on the left-hand side
  • Once you’ve found your delegate, click the email icon beside their name to compose and send your message

Will I be notified when another attendee has sent me a message?

Yes. If you receive a message on the KidscreenXchange platform, a notification will be sent to your personal email address.
