Will Brenton is one of the only people in the UK to create, write and produce award-winning children’s TV programming, as well as creating, writing and directing live shows from small-scale pantomines up to full-scale arena tours. He has worked with all major children’s TV brands, bringing their characters in front of live audiences, and has also turned his own TV programs into unique live events playing to audiences of up to 7,000 people per performance.
He has co-created, written, produced and directed some of today’s best known shows for children, including The Tweenies, Jim Jam and Sunny,Boo!, Fun Song Factory, BB3B, Wibbly Pig, Mighty Mites, and Florrie’s Dragons. Recognition for his work includes a BAFTA Award and six nominations, and a ROYAL TELEVISION SOCIETY AWARD.
Will has also written, co-written and directed over 30 live shows for characters and brands including The Tweenies, CBeebies, Bob the Builder, Thomas the Tank Engine, Noddy, Postman Pat and Bratz. In 2010, he wrote and directed the Dr Who! The Monsters are Coming! arena tour, which opened at Wembley. And last Easter, he wrote and directed the CBeebies Stars arena show, followed by Justin and Friends, another CBeebies arena tour that travelled widely in the UK.
Currently, Will is directing a new series for Channel 5’s Milkshake and Nickelodeon called Wanda and the Alien, based on the books by Sue Hendra. And he is about to announce another series for CBeebies in the UK, along with another arena tour for Easter 2015. Will remains one of the most versatile and active experts in the field of children’s media, and is already working towards launching more digital platforms for new content to take full advantage of the new commercial models that are emerging, and the evolving storytelling opportunities they offer.
